When she said 'NO', he ignored it as if he didn't listen, and that disgust was gulped as a bitter sip of alcohol by her. She was trained in a fashion where husband is GOD, and she was supposed to follow his instructions (Should read ORDERS) as it is. Since she belongs to him, he has got all the rights to beat her, rape her, insult her, abuse her and what not. Although she was an educated woman, but because of our so called 'Sacred Relationship (Marriage)' and its cultural threads which are woven in our blood, she compromised a lot.
This was not the first time when she was beaten terribly and he has forced himself on her. For this, she hated him to the core of her heart. She should have opposed it when it was for the very first time, she thought. But what now? Is there any end to this? What if I take a divorce with him? What society will think? Will my family be ashamed of me? Does it happen to most of the women? Where will I go? What about our kids? n thousands of questions were the root cause of this.
All these years she had tolerated this man for the sake of saving her so called 'Marriage' and for the future of her kids. Irony of the life is we don't have guts when we need it most. All the families must support their daughters in such a case. Till when this will continue? I am anguished with this scenario. Till when ONLY women are supposed to save their marriages, Men have no responsibilities towards it? When will we start teaching our sons to respect women? WAKE UP...its high time!!
